Stephen Colbert thinks Julian Assange looks like a terrible roommate

TwitterFacebook

Reported details have emerged about Julian Assange’s seven years within the Ecuadorian embassy, and Stephen Colbert reckons they make the Wikileaks founder look like quite the crappy roommate.

The Late Show host is not just talking about the embassy accusing Assange of spying on other countries from the building, and hacking the phone of President Lenin Moreno, either.

Aside from reports of Assange skateboarding inside at night, playing loud music, and schmearing ungodly things on the…

Stephen Colbert throws water on Trump’s fire extinguishing advice

TwitterFacebook

In the midst of the Notre-Dame blaze in Paris, Donald Trump suggested on Twitter that fire authorities use “flying water tankers” to douse the flames.

We know now that wasn’t good advice, with French authorities explaining such a tactic would compromise the building’s entire structure, as Stephen Colbert highlighted on Thursday in his opening monologue.

“For firefighters, they really know how to give a sick burn,” Colbert joked.

The late show host also paid tribute to the cathedral’s…

Stephen Colbert farewells former homeland security head Kirstjen Nielsen, kinda

TwitterFacebook

In case you missed it, Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen resigned from her role on Sunday.

Nielsen, who found herself heckled and had protests outside her home during her tenure, also didn’t receive the warmest of farewells from The Late Show’s Steven Colbert.

“I believe she’s leaving to spend more time separating her family,” he quipped.

The late show host tore into the resignation, which perhaps stems from Trump’s reported displeasure at the increase in crossings on the…

Stephen Colbert uses strong Harry Potter comparison to describe the full Mueller report

TwitterFacebook

Attorney General William Barr’s four-page summary of Robert Mueller’s almost two-year investigation is a little too short for many, as the House Judiciary Committee approved a subpoena to obtain the full report on Wednesday.

It’s hard to relate to exactly how long that kind of read is, but The Late Show host Stephen Colbert put it into terms we’d understand.

“Barr’s summary was not quite four pages long, while the full Mueller report is nearly 400 pages. That’s Harry Potter length,” he…

Stephen Colbert attacks Trump’s healthcare promises in a cutting 6-minute monologue

TwitterFacebook

Stephen Colbert is a long way from impressed with Trump’s very vague promises of a healthcare plan.

“He’s decided he wants to kill Obamacare in the courts,” Colbert says in the clip above. “And remember repeal and replace? We’re gonna repeal and replace? Well, after nine years, they still haven’t gotten round to the replace part.

“They have no plan.”

Ultimately, Colbert compares Trump to an “old-timey travelling snake oil salesman” — one who’s come full circle, and is now telling the…

‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke describes what it’s like to survive a brain haemorrhage

TwitterFacebook

Emilia Clarke recently penned an op-ed for The New Yorker, detailing how she survived two brain haemorrhages while filming Game of Thrones. In the piece, Clarke wrote that after her first haemorrhages, she was diagnosed with having had subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH), which is a serious, life-threatening type of stroke.

Clarke talked to Stephen Colbert about what it felt like to survive a brain haemorrhage and how the experience changed her outlook on life.

Colbert asked her whether she…
