Help Us Celebrate ‘Giving’ In Photos

Hands of giving

Perhaps the strongest association most of us have with the holiday season is a sense of tradition. No matter where we come from or what holidays we celebrate, it is the traditions we share with our friends and families that make these occasions memorable. On Thanksgiving, the tradition we celebrate is giving thanks for the people, places and things that sustain us. Giving thanks can also remind us of the ways that we can give back to those around us.

Today’s Socially Connected World Means the Jobs Go where the Talent is

Work from Home

More people are working from home. Most do some work from home and the majority from an office, but the trend is heading towards a mobile and home-based work force. Other than the obvious benefits of lower office costs and improved employee morale, there’s another component that should be discussed: expanding the talent pool.

Budweiser Will Crowdsource Its Next Beer

Early next year, Budweiser is planning to launch a new golden amber lager developed through a crowdsourcing competition between the Brewmasters at it’s 12 breweries.

For Project 12, the company worked together to create their own “tribute” beers to fit the Budweiser brand’s reputation for quality and consistency, which were then sampled across America.

The new ‘Black Crown’ variety emerged out of this competition, and has been modeled after the beer created at the Los Angeles…

Street Campaign Trades Free Shoes for Instagram Photos

Montreal-based footwear brand Aldo staged a charming out-of-home campaign in Israel, inviting passersby to snap a photo of their shoes, upload the photo to Instagram with their shoe size and the hashtag #aldo, and ring a bell. In two minutes, a large, rolling present box then appeared, containing — as you might have expected — a new pair of Aldo shoes in their size.

The bell was rung more than 450 times and 500 photos were uploaded to Instagram, producing nearly 800,000 interactions.

When we wrote about Napkin Labs last year, the Boulder-based startup was focused on a familiar problem: How to help brands and businesses wade through the noise of social networks and better engage (and collaborate with) their customers. To do this, the startup created an online lab space that functioned as a collaborative community in which fans could help incubate new ideas and make their voices heard. Using game dynamics, a reward system and crowdsourcing, the platform encouraged fans to…

On the heels of a deal with Facebook to promote Olympic conversations on NBC’s Facebook page, the broadcast network today is taking one more step to improve its social standing during the big sports event. It is linking up with Storify, the social-media “story creator”, to put streams of real-time Olympic content, curated by NBC journalists, across Today.com as well as NBC’s 10 owned TV station websites. An NBC spokesperson tells me that this is by far the “biggest thing” that NBC has ever…
