Driver gets caught pulled over on the highway with 8 phones running ‘Pokémon Go’

TwitterFacebook

When they pulled up to check on the driver, they found something, and I bet you can’t guess what it is. OK, give up? Great. It was a foam block containing eight phones, each of which was running Pokémon Go.

There’s a lot to unpack here. First, as the Seattle Times pointed out, this guy is still playing Pokémon Go, which is an incredible feat in itself. His foam block is also…

6 ‘Pokémon Go’ players explain how the game has changed their lives

TwitterFacebook

It may be hard to believe, but it’s now been over three years since Pokémon Go first pika’d its way into our hearts.

Three years since July 2016, when the game was rolled out country-by-country by Niantic. Remember how awesome that summer was? It was hard to even step outside without seeing someone with their nose in their phone, app open, flicking many a Poké Ball across their screen.

That level of excitement was never going to last, though. Like all viral crazes, Pokémon Go‘s moment in…

A chat with Niantic CEO John Hanke on the launch of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

Just shy of three years ago, Pokémon GO took over the world. Players filled the sidewalks, and crowds of trainers flooded parks and landmarks. Anywhere you looked, people were throwing Pokéballs and chasing Snorlax.

As the game grew, so did the company behind it. Niantic had started its life as an experimental “lab” within Google — an effort on Google’s part to keep the team’s founder, John Hanke, from parting ways to start his own thing. In the months surrounding GO’s…
