Science tells us mattresses aren’t migratory. Science is clearly wrong.

TwitterFacebook

Most of you probably think mattresses are inanimate objects, forever lying stationary until some living creature, typically a human, picks one up and moves it. You’ll all think differently after seeing this video.

The video, shot in Colorado on Aug. 17, claims that this mass mattress migration is an accident. “We were hanging out by the pool and apparently they were setting up for ‘movie night under the stars’ with pillows and mattresses and then a storm rolled in.”

No, Facebook isn’t getting rid of your secret group

TwitterFacebook

Facebook announced a big change on Wednesday, but don’t worry: secret groups aren’t going away.

“For Facebook Groups, people have historically been able to choose between being public, closed or secret settings for their group,” wrote Product Manager for Facebook Groups Jordan Davis. “To better match people’s expectations and help provide more clarity, we’re rolling out a new simplified privacy model for Groups — public and private.”

TwitterFacebook

Barack Obama has finally released a statement on the deadly mass shootings that took place over the weekend in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio.

The former president shared a heartfelt four-paragraph message on Twitter Monday afternoon, explaining that he and Michelle “grieve with all the families in El Paso and Dayton who endured these latest mass shootings.”

“Even if details are still emerging,” Obama wrote, “there are a few things we already know to be true.”

When this reporter went to local Los Angeles gourmet cheese shop Say Cheese, for example, the cheesemonger did not blink twice at her request to…

Sorry, your ‘anonymized’ data probably isn’t anonymous

TwitterFacebook

Anonymized data sets are a joke. And, as a newly published study shows, the joke just so happens to be on you.

From your credit card purchases to your medical records to your online browsing history, companies are sharing and selling so-called de-identified data sets containing a record of your every move. The information is supposedly stripped of any specific details — like your name — that would tie it directly back to you. However, it just so happens that true anonymization of your…
